TESTIMONIALS

Written by C. Carter, Supervisee on 4/28/22:

Thank you, Sedara, for your wisdom and guidance. You were patient with me, and you have helped me to grow and to become the therapist I am today. Thank you for being a part of my journey. I'm grateful for everything you've done for me, from supervising me in the counseling process to guiding me to writing and supporting me as I continue on my path. I couldn't have done this without your help. I am truly grateful.

Sedara has been an absolute God send! It almost seems to be an impossible task to articulate how profoundly impactful Sedara’s role has been in my training and development as a counselor. Her wealth of clinical experience and knowledge are supremely evident in the insightful feedback she offers in each supervision session. She has been consistently available, always maintaining scheduled meeting commitments, flexible in her availability, as well as promptly responding to any attempts to reach her at even a moments notice. She has a gifted way of reinvigorating me, and renewing my spirit of passion and optimism for mental healthcare, when I’ve been beat down by doubt in my own clinical effectiveness and or judgement. She goes the extra mile in conducting research to promptly provide me with any information that I may need to know. Engaging with Sedara as a supervisee has continuously illuminated and modeled for me the atmosphere of safety, empathy, and warmth that I yearn to cultivate for my own clients. She seems to have mastered the artful balance of being perfectly professional, transparent, and personable all at the same time. Sedara is simply a jewel!

This book [Master Maasai] is great for teaching young children self management skills. All of Sedara’s books are great for supporting PBIS [Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports] and SEL [Social Emotional Learning].

In just a short time, Sedara's insights and support have guided me to make real, positive changes. It's been easy to establish communication routines, and she's made me very comfortable with this format. Every qualm I had about online counseling has been quashed, and I feel that Sedara has done a great job helping me. I am quite grateful!

Written by C.W. on 05/03/15 at the end of a 5 week course on Professional Development and Identity:

Good evening Sedara, I just wanted to say thank you for all your guidance over the last 5 weeks. I have learned a lot, more than I ever anticipated I would, not only for the profession that I cannot wait to join; but also about myself, my own thoughts and just in general some of my fears I can see myself having. You are an awesome instructor and I thank you for making this last 5 weeks a remarkable learning experience for me. I know your future students will agree that you are an asset to the University! Thank you and good luck with the all the lives that I am sure you will continue to impact!!

Greetings!

I am a  Licensed Professional Counselor,  Master Addiction Counselor,  and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia with over fourteen years of experience providing psychotherapy.

I studied family systems and earned a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Sophia University in Palo Alto, CA (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology), a Bachelor’s in Business Management and an Associate’s in Liberal Studies from Kentucky State University.

For the past fourteen years I have had the honor to provide psychotherapy with adolescents, adults, individuals, families and groups in clinic and home settings. A large amount of my work has focused on family systems, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, depression and grief and loss.

All of these experiences assist me with understanding, serving and connecting with my clients and other counselors. I walk with clients and clinicians on their journey to define and achieve optimal health - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness for themselves and others.

I have worked in Corporate America, the non-profit sector, social services and community mental health clinics, hospital settings and academia.  I am currently a Clinical Director at a community-based mental health center and a consultant for TQ Intelligence helping with the development of a groundbreaking mental health app that determines the level of pediatric trauma using their voice! I have written 6 children’s books to help other clinicians, teachers and parents explain important social-emotional concepts to their little ones. In April of 2022, I was also certified as an herbalist to enhance the work I do for others. I love helping to build and grow myself and others.

I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Multicultural Counseling and DevelopmentSouthern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision and the Licensed Professional Counselor Association of Georgia.

My passion is to serve others through, training, education and supervision.

I look forward to working with you!
