Theoretical Orientation & Approach
My Theoretical Orientation is primarily influenced by Family Systems, Psychosynthesis and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My theoretical approach is based in the belief that individuals are uniquely layered and the work we do together helps them to uncover those layers, explore them and find ways to unify contrasting thoughts and beliefs. Internal conflict and splitting (intrapersonal discord) can result in having difficulty engaging in the world peacefully (interpersonal discord with family members, coworkers, etc). Each of us has our own cultural traditions and experiences that shape our identity; therefore we must take into consideration the systems that influenced the development of our unique layers.
As a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), the goal is to provide supervision to graduate students, associate professional counselors and consultation to licensed professional counselors in the state of Georgia.
The Supervision Process is an interactive process, with the goals of supporting unlicensed and newly licensed professionals with:
Improving clinical skills
Monitoring client care
Facilitating personal and professional development and growth
Monitoring counselor wellness, self-care and burnout prevention
Ensuring ethical practices are maintained
Evaluation for full licensure (for unlicensed)
The supervision process is a culmination of teaching, mentoring, coaching and examining the interactions between the supervisee and the individuals served. Supervisees should experience an improvement in their ability to fully conceptualize the individual served, improve their interventions, their sense of identity as a counselor, and ethical practices. Supervisees will receive timely and honest feedback on their progress in hopes of encouraging personal growth and challenges that enhance skills, knowledge and abilities.
For unlicensed professionals, supervision will consist of individual and group sessions, which are both required and will count towards your overall hours towards licensure.
Please submit your contact information if you are interested in discussing eligibility and schedule an introductory supervision meeting.
